Health and Wellbeing

Promoting the health and wellbeing of residents in the borough is an important part of what we do.

How can I improve my health and wellbeing?

  • Eating a healthy, balanced diet is an important part of maintaining good health.
  • Research shows there are five ways that can really help to boost our wellbeing.
  • Be aware of the risks attached to smoking and excessive drinking.
  • Take part in regular physical activity.

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing are a good place to start. If you're not sure what they are, have a look.

Why not also try: Hertfordshire Health Walks - a countywide initiative of free, guided walks aiming to help promote walking and encourage more people (all ages, backgrounds and abilities) to get outdoors, get more active, and reap the benefits. For more information go to www.walkingforhealth.org.uk/walkfinder/hertfordshire-health-walks

There are many organisations that can offer health-related advice and support.  A (non-exhaustive!) list can be found here.

Health & Wellbeing Grants are available for local projects within the borough that meet certain criteria. These grants recognise that public health can be a very localised issue and sometimes a small amount of money can make a big difference in the community. Find our more and apply
